南方海洋科学与工程广东省实验室（珠海）（下简称南方海洋实验室）由广东省人民政府授牌，珠海市人民政府举办，中山大学牵头建设和管理，实行理事会领导下的实验室主任负责制。陈大可院士担任实验室主任，苏纪兰院士担任学术委员会主任。已与包括香港、澳门、广东等地高校在内的41家高等院校、研究机构、业务部门及相关企业等签订了合作共建协议。南方海洋实验室以“崇尚首创，力争最优”为标准，面向国际科技前沿、国家重大战略需求、结合自身基础研究优势，设立三大重点科研任务：海洋科学基础理论、海洋安全保障技术、海洋资源开放利用，并大力推进“国际一流，国内领先”的八大公共平台建设。

Accredited by the People's Government of Guangdong Province, and sponsored by the Zhuhai Municipal Government, Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory (Zhuhai) (hereinafter SML-Zhuhai) was constructed and managed by Sun Yat-sen University, adopting director responsibility system under the leadership of the council. Academician Chen Dake was appointed as the Director of the laboratory, and Academician Su Jilan was appointed as the Director of its academic committee. The laboratory has signed cooperation agreements with 41 collaborative partnerships, including universities, research institutions, government departments and related enterprises in Hong Kong, Macao and Guangdong. Committed “to be the first or the best”, facing the international frontier of science and technology, the major strategic needs of the country, combined with its own advantages in basic research, the SML-Zhuhai has set up three key scientific research tasks: basic theory of marine science, marine security technology, and open utilization of marine resources. In addition to which, the laboratory has also accelerated the further establishment of the eight world-class public platforms.

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), founded in 1991, is a world-famous research university. HKUST ranked No.10 in the Global Employability Ranking 2019 (No.1 in Greater China, seven years in a row). Further, it ranked No.1 in Young University Rankings 2020 in Times Higher Education, and ranked 27th in QS World University Rankings 2021 among the world’s top 1000 universities (No. 2 in Hong Kong). HKUST currently has more than 250 educational collaboration partners around the world, including Harvard University, MIT, University of Southern California, Cambridge University, Imperial College London, Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne, Switzerland and so on. The Department of Ocean Science of HKUST was established in February 2018, and its research areas cover physical oceanography, biogeochemistry, marine ecology, and molecular biology. With the interdisciplinary team of professors and strong marine research background, the Department of Ocean Science has established long-term cooperative relationships with authoritative marine institutions at home and abroad, such as the Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory, the University of Southampton, and the National Ocean Technology Center.

为贯彻落实《粤港澳大湾区发展规划纲要》，推进粤港澳高等教育和科研的深度合作，南方海洋实验室和香港科技大学拟开展博士生联合培养计划，共同招收涉海领域联合培养博士研究生，实行双导师指导，颁发香港科技大学博士学位。

In order to implement the Outline of Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, promoting the in-depth cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in the area of higher education and scientific research, SML-Zhuhai and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as HKUST) intend to launch a Joint PhD Student Training Program (hereinafter referred to as the Program). The Program enrolls PhD students in the fields of marine science and technology, with the implementation of double-advisor guidance, and awards the doctoral degree of the HKUST.

南方海洋实验室为联培博士研究生提供最高4年的奖助学金资助。其中，在香港学习期间，南方海洋实验室按香港科技大学博士生标准提供奖助学金。在南方海洋实验室学习期间，导师按照南方海洋实验室相关标准发放津贴。

SML-Zhuhai will provide PhD candidates with a studentship for up to 4 years. Among them, during the study in Hong Kong, SML-Zhuhai will provide studentship in accordance with the standard for postgraduate student of the HKUST. During the study in SML-Zhuhai, the assistantship will be granted in accordance with the relevant standard of the SML-Zhuhai.

四、学习费用TuitionandFees

学生需按时向香港科技大学缴纳学费及其他相关费用。若学习年限超过最高资助年限（4年），超出费用由学生自理或由双方导师协商解决。

Students are required to pay tuition fees and other related fees to the HKUST. If the period of study exceeds the maximum funding period (4 years), students shall be responsible for the extra costs.

五、申请要求ApplicationRequirements

1. 学历：在认可院校取得学士或以上学位（应届生可提供相关的准毕业证明）。

2.GPA：硕士起点学生本科及硕士GPA均达到3.0/4，本科起点学生GPA达到3.0/4。

3.英语：申请人须具备下列其中一项英文能力证明材料:

托福-网考（iBT）:80托福-纸考（pBT）:550

新托福（revisedpaper-deliveredtest）:60分(阅读、听力和写作总分)

雅思(学术类):总分:6.5分（单科不低于5.5分）

注意：

1)如有下列情况，申请者无需提供托福或雅思成绩

a.母语为英语。、

b.获得学士学位(同等或以上学历)的学校以英语为教学语言。

2)英语成绩必须保证2021年12月1日仍在两年的有效期内。

3)英语成绩单可在提交申请后补交。

The applicant must meet all admission requirements of the HKUST

1. Education background: A bachelor’s or a master’s degree of this University of a qualification of equivalent standard from this University or another comparable institution accepted for this purpose.

2. GPA: the GPA shall reach 3.0/4 in all previous degree program.

3. English: Applicants have to fulfill English Language requirements with one of the following proficiency attainments:

TOEFL-iBT: 80 TOEFL-pBT: 550

TOEFL-Revised paper-delivered test: 60 (total scores for Reading, Listening and Writing sections)

IELTS (Academic Module): Overall score: 6.5 and All sub-score: 5.5

Note:

1) Applicants are not required to present TOEFL or IELTS score if：

a. Their first language is English, or

b. They obtained the bachelor's degree (or equivalent) from an institution where the medium of instruction was English.

2) All English test score reports should be valid by December 1, 2021.
